Social Network Portlet
bringing one of the configurable social networking awarness tools that can be turned on in document actions. In the setup you shoudl be able to configure what 2.0 tools you want to highlight and provide links where needed.
There are plenty of add-on products that do this in lots of ways; it’s probably not necessary to add it to the core.

I think it might make sense to add a viewlet in the byline-ish area which just renders some html entered in the control panel (like we do for analytics code). Things like the AddThis are becoming ubiquitous and we might want to consider making it fairly trivial to add an arbitrary widget through the web. A more general solution (like a StaticPortlet for viewlets) would be preferable though.

Such a functionality does not need to live in the Plone core.

I think that collective.plonebookmarklets already does a pretty good job of this. also sc.social.bookmarks.

Fair request, but needs to be an addon, not core Plone. Actually, i think it exists as an addon already. can we vote negative?

This idea sounds a bit vague to me. What kind of tools are we talking about? What would be the benefits of doing this?
