Use Deliverance to ease migrations to Plone 4

I had hoped we would be able to use Deliverance to help ease migration. When 3.x came out I had to postpone most migrations for many months until all of the dependent 3rd party products caught up. Couldn't deliverance allow us to build Plone 4 sites that draw content from Plone 3? What could be done to make this easier?

Plone 4.2 will ship with plone.app.theming. Discussions about best practices are probably best taken to the list.

A lot of people are theming Plone 4 (and Plone 3!) with Deliverance/XDV as we speak. It's not yet "mainstream best practice" and likely won't be until Plone 5, mainly because deploying Deliverance/XDV is still a bit tricky. But, Plone 3 themes will work in Plone 4 with only very minor, well documented changes, much easier than switching over to Deliverance/XDV for existing sites, IMHO.

I would love to start building Plone 4 sites as soon as the beta comes out much like you've done with plone.org. What could be done to make this migration a less intimidating experience for 'D-list' developers like me?
